Some of us got useful things, some of us toys. Some of us got lots of stuff, some of us got little. Some of us got car stuff and some of us got kitchen gadgets. Any way it goes, we all got some stuff that made us say "Yes! That's exactly what I wanted!" and a couple things that made you wonder if the gift giver was drunk when they got it for you.

My best:

A Pelican U100 Backpack. Short of a nuclear blast my laptop should be safe whether I'm on my motorcycle or taking my dangerous daily walk across campus. But seriously, last time I laid down my bike my skin grew back, my laptop is still dented.

My worst:

Its a toss up.

This light up decoration that doesn't work. I'll probably just pack it full of Tannerite and shoot it.

This package of Wind & Willow Cheeseball & Appetizer mix. As someone who lives in both Wisconsin and Texas I enjoy both cheeseballs and salsa, but I'll be damned if I want to make my own. I suppose I'm also a little bitter about the fact that I thought it was a package of chocolate and I felt wronged when it turned out not to be chocolate.

The best. Also, I got two bottles of wine and two boxes of my favorite candy (made in Colorado), Enstrom's Almond Toffee. I got no worst gifts.

Best: Surface Pro 2. It replaces my old red Dell laptop that was self-destructing at ripe old age of 4. Also, I got Gran Turismo 6 (fuck yeah)!

Worst: A toothbrush. Nobody wants to get a toothbrush for Christmas.

Because duct tape has a million uses and you always seem to run out when you need just a little more , so it never hurts to have some around.

Worst:

Best: Canon G15.

My Canon 5D2 has been sitting in our cabinet collecting dust since bringing it to Oklahoma with me for school, the humidity to it is like rust on a car, which is also the reason why I can't have a car there snow salt and all. So my dad got me a G15 because he said it's the best camera I'm going to allow you to bring to college. Kind of like a winter beater you can say, especially a great deal since it was on sale :D

I loved Chris Hadfield's book,

Maybe It's because I also grew up in Ontario with a cottage in cottage country and can relate to many aspects of his life, I have also fallowed his career since the 90's as a kid watching and reading about science in Canada, or maybe its my huge sense of national pride (read as Canadian pride).

But I loved the book, as someone who's going threw an apprenticeship and trying to find there place in the world, I found some humbling words of wisdom in his book, and words of encouragement to keep reaching for your goals, (trying not to spoil ay of the book)

Honorable Mention/ WTF????:

For those of you in fact wondering "WTF IS THAT?", It's a Possum pelt from NZ. Only the softest thing I've ever touched, but I have no idea what to do with it...

Worst: Not sure if I had a worst this year, but probably the two shirts my Aunt gave me that don't fit. Because I can't wear them.
